The use of iron in my mokume laminates is relatively new and we do not have a long history with this metal combination. A ring in this metal combination will not be sold without a liner; the liner will isolate the iron from the moisture and salts that are always present between the ring and the finger. Liner material can be platinum as pictured above or any of the golds that we normally use.

Another option for this style ring with a similar color contrast is 14K palladium white gold and iron though this metal combination is more subtle than platinum and iron. Palladium is from the same family of metal as platinum. 14K palladium white gold is similar in color to platinum but less expensive. We are also using a metal combination of sterling silver and iron with a sterling silver liner or a liner in 14K palladium white gold. This metal combination provides a striking grey/white contrast. Though this is an ideal ring for a man it is also a good choice for a woman who wants an unusual wedding band.
